The city of Los Santos, San Andreas is city in the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise. The city appers twice within the franchise, first in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, last year it appeared again in Grand Theft Auto 5. Although Los Santos is a fictional city the development team really based the city off Los Angeles and other surrounding southern California cities. It is a highly diverse city with the inhabitants ranging from the very wealthy to the poor and destitute. This line is drawn through the north and south parts of the city, north being the wealhy half and the south being more crime ridden. The people of the northern part of the city are materialistic and obsessed with public image , these people are quick to pass judgment and arent afraid to let you know what they think. The people of south Los Santos are more often than not gang members and are quick to defend their gangs territory. The city shares all the same laws as a real city, however laws against assaulting police officers seem to yield the strictest response by law enforcement. The city itself is probably one of, if not
the biggest factor in the game.It almoost acts as another character and can be unforgiving as well as rewarding. Los Santos for the most part is a visually stunning city, from the many tourist attractions such as Vinewood sign to the amusement park on the pier and helicopter tours of the city. It is a haven for those thrill seekers offering everything from sky diving, to land and sea racing. Overall the city has its good qualities and bad qualities, the city has an unusually high crime rate. Los Santos experiences everything from armed robbery, auto theft, drug trafficking, and murder. However, it truly is a city of opprotunity, it is a place to make a name for yourself. The city offers a wealth of activities, sports and hobbies that can be taken up. From the towering sky scrapers, airports, marinas and easy going beach lifestyle, to the vast national forest, the city is always bring something new. One reason that I chose Los Santos was that it visually reminded me of where I grew up. The other reason being that Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of my favorite games of all time and their is never a boring mioment in the city.
